Music For Youth: A Piano Concert feat. Rudolf P. Golez

Music For Youth is a piano concert featuring world-renowned musician, Rudold Pelaez Golez and the Tagum Junior Symphonic Orchestra. This is a concert for a cause - proceeds will fund the Tagum City Music Development Scholars.

RUDOLF PELAEZ GOLEZ, pianist

Rudolf P. Golez started basic piano lessons at age four with his mother. As he progressed, he enrolled with Sr. Lourdes Allegado, RVM who prepared him for his Premier Piano Recital at the Lourdes College within a year of formal piano lessons.

At age 11, Golez performed for then First Lady Imelda R. Marcos at the Coconut Palace in Manila. She was so impressed with his music that she offered him a scholarship abroad. The Philippine Revolution of 1986 put an end to this projected collaboration.

Golez left for New York City at 13 and studied at the Juilliard School (pre-college) under Seymour Lipkin.  In one of his visits home at age 17, he made his orchestral debut with the Manila Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Sergio Esmilla, Jr. playing Beethoven’s 4th Concerto. Further studies brought him to Graz, Austria and finally graduated with the degree of Master in Music major in Piano Performance at the University of the Philippines in Diliman (2002).

Being the sole prizewinner at the First ASEAN Chopin International Piano Competition (2004), Golez is one of the Philippine’s notable young pianists today. He was featured soloist at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Filipino Young Artists Series (2006). Other notable performances that won critical acclaim were performances with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under the composer/conductor Cristobal Halffter of Madrid (2008), playing de Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain.

Golez represents Philippines in concerts abroad namely China (2010), Russia (2012) and Australia (2013). In addition, he regularly performs in Philippines and United States with colleagues as a collaborative artist and soloist.

Currently Golez is Dean of the College of Music of Liceo de Cagayan, of his hometown Cagayn de Oro and also serves as faculty of Philippine Women’s University (PWU). Furthermore, he is enrolled in the PhD Performance program of PWU.
